Conference Race Jan 4 and Mesabi Invite @ Giant's Ridge (please check roster!)

No official word yet, but it looks like our Jan. 4th race will be moved to Trollhaugen. Please check back often for updates.

Here is some information The Mesabi Invite the following Saturday January 7th, 2012. This is an exciting race held on the MN State Meet course and a great opportunity for skiers.

We will be sharing a coach bus with Tartan and North leaving early Saturday morning and arriving late on Saturday night. We are limited by both number of entries and by bus space. Please check the roster below. Email Coach Anderson andersoh@invergrove.k12.mn.us as soon as possible if you are unable to attend this meet.

JV Boys: Kyle, Connor, T.J. Lucas

Varsity Girls: Margie, Andrea, Hannah, Amanda, Leah, Larisa

JV Girls: Mady, Samantha, Caroline, Rachel (alt Mikayla)

AWARDS:

The top three (3) skiers in each race (Varsity & Jr. Var. boy’s & girl’s) will receive a medal and skiers placing 4th – 10th will receive ribbons. The top three (3) teams (Varsity & Jr. Var. boy’s & girl’s) will receive individual medals. The top team – 1st place (Varsity – boy’s & girl’s) will receive a trophy. Team scoring requires 4 scoring, 2 skiing Classic Technique, 2 skiing Free Technique for both Varsity and Jr. Varsity.

(Girls Race First)Dec. 20th meet Moved to Trollhaugen/Special Note on 6th Grade Skiers

The fun continues at Trollhaugen this week with a change in venue for better snow conditions. We will leave shortly after school and return home about 9pm. We'll have kids call from the bus as we approach school.

This week we want to encourage 6th grade skiers to attend. With the lack of snow, we'd like to let them see what we do and to practice actually skiing.

Girls' Varsity - 6 pm (Mass start OR waves of 1 per school every minute) - ~5km

Boys' Varsity - 6:30 (Mass start OR waves of 1 per school every minute) - ~5km

Girls' JV - 7:00 Mass Start - ~2.5 km

Boys' JV - 7:05 Mass Start - ~2.5 km

All skiers should have the following:

• warm clothes appropriate for the weather to ski in with additional layers available for watching teammates race.
  
• a healthy pre-race meal and snack after skiing.
• homework for down times
• proper mindset, for varsity skiers this is a full on race go, go, go. JV skiers should ski fast and improve your fitness and skills. New skiers relax there will be skiers from other teams just like you. learn to get up hills, turn and have fun.

Outstanding fFirst Race/Time on Skis

37 Degrees and 29 eager skiers made for a great first night of ski racing. Several younger skiers stepped up to ski varsity and junior varsity races. Coach Sedler and Coach Anderson were impressed by the effort, attitude and improvement of the students.
