Conference Relays @ Mathtomedi

Here is what we'll do for the Relays.
Each team will have one "A" team for both girls and boys. This will be a 4 person team
with 2 legs classic and 2 legs skate.

We will also have a "B" team with 1 leg classic and 2 legs skate.

JV/slower skiers will have a non-relay mass start skate race.

Order of events:
Girls A and Girls B (lined up behind the A)
Boys A and Boys B (again, lined up behind the A)
Mass start individual goes after the boys relay teams are out on their last leg.

Each leg, along with the mass start race is one lap of approx. 2.5km.

We will begin as soon as everyone is there. Again time is of the essence so we're not
skiing in the dark.

Thursday's Race @ Sibley

[from Sibley's coach]
The race: ALL Girls start at 3:45 pm. ALL boys start at 4:20 pm. Sunset -
5:05 pm.

Mass start at the bottom of the big hill and up to the top. At the top racers will turn right as marked to being the loop. Varsity will do 3 laps totaling just over 5 km, and you can have your JV do 2 or 3 as you wish, but remember the boys will be coming on to the course 35 minutes later. Skiers will take a left to continue their laps or veer right to go under the field goal posts and to the finish line. It will be clearly marked. I have attached a picture to give you a rough idea of what it will look like. The only time you go up the big hill is at the start. This will spread things out very quickly.

Other notes.
Parking is going to be a nightmare until about race time. I suggest parents try the frontage road parking lot or the Main Sibley parking lot. The best viewing area is probably the top of the big hill by the shed you can see almost the whole course from there, and the skiers will pass by 3 times.

It's going to be cold. The door into Sibley on the back side of the school is usually locked, but they will see what they can do so people have access to bathrooms, etc.

At the shed we will have tons of cookies and hot chocolate for racers, parents, coaches, etc. so help yourself!
