Friday Simley will host a sprint race with the Math and Science Academy on the pond just south of the football field at 3:45 pm, or when everyone is ready. Please join us to cheer for the skiers; there isn't a bad seat in the house. I'm expecting about 40 athletes to compete..
The combination of little snow and cold weather has made for good ice. I drilled over a dozen holes and checked ice depth around the perimeter and center of the pond. All show a solid 6". I walked the course and groom a figure-eight into it with the snowmobile.
This will be a warm-up meet to make sure uniforms, bibs, skiers and equipment are ready for our Conference meet next Tuesday, Dec. 9th. I'm guessing we will be on St. Thomas' lake with Trollhaugen closed to Nordic skiing this year,
